Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, most simulation activities were conducted in-person and generally included high-fidelity mannequins or simulated/standardized patients.  When most in-person activities were halted, many institutions converted these simulation experiences to virtual simulation activities.  This session will highlight the various types of simulation activities that are included under the umbrella term of virtual simulation, and discuss the similarities and differences between creating, facilitating, and debriefing these types of simulation activities.

Learning objectives for this session:

  • describe the different virtual simulation activities
  • summarize the similarities and differences between in-person and virtual simulation learning activities
  • recommend a type of simulation modality that is appropriate for the learning activity

Facilitator:
Nicole Harder
