Simulation-based activities can be anxiety producing and stressful. Simulation that generally involve end-of-life care, futility cases, or horizontal violence can generate feeling of emotional and psychological stress in simulation participants. These kinds of simulation experiences require a different approach to debriefing. This session will describe a Trauma-informed Psychological Safe (TiPS) debriefing framework and indicate when this may be an appropriate debriefing framework.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the purpose of TiPS debriefing
- Identify simulation experiences that would benefit from using TiPS debriefing
- Summarize the strengths and weaknesses of TiPS debriefing following emotionally or psychologically stressful simulation activities
