Event Overview

Baby Steps 2024 will review current topics and discuss ways to provide care in drug involved pregnancies. We will identify local qualitative research projects that focus on and support promising practice-change by highlighting the experiences of those who pregnancies have been affected by drug use. You will hear from community programs that provide a link to hospital-based care.

 

Topics will include:

Congenital syphilis, postpartum depression and meth-associated psychosis in pregnancy, Indigenous Practice in Maternity Care: Birthing in a Good Way, Patient-centered research: Nothing about me without me, Lived Experience Panel to evaluate care strategies.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this event participants will be able to:

  • Prioritize the lived experience of pregnant people who use substances to inform and deliver improved care.
  • Apply emerging research, clinical approaches, culturally grounded care, and community service models to adapt maternity care to the post-pandemic context.
  • Develop interprofessional relationships to better serve the complex needs of families affected by substance use.

As Per CPD Medicine policy, the department requires any refund or cancelation request to be submitted in writing up to fourteen (14) days prior to the program start date . A $50 administrative fee will be withheld to cover transaction and administrative costs. Refund or cancelation requests made less than fourteen (14) days notice may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Registration also provides access to the recording post event. Recordings will be accessible in your CPD account
~ 7-14 days after the session date.
