Event Description
The Ultrasound-Guided Vascular Access Course is designed for healthcare professionals practicing acute care medicine who wish to enhance their vascular access skills using ultrasound guidance.
In acute care settings, timely and effective vascular access is essential. This hands-on course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform both central and peripheral intravenous access using ultrasound guidance. Through expert instruction and supervised practice, participants will build confidence in performing ultrasound-guided vascular access while learning techniques that can improve procedural success and reduce complications.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the principles of ultrasound as they apply to vascular access.
- Identify relevant vascular anatomy using ultrasound.
- Perform ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous catheter insertion.
- Apply best practices for ultrasound-guided central venous access.
- Recognize strategies to prevent and manage procedural complications.
- Increase confidence in performing vascular access in challenging clinical situations.
Who Should Attend?
This course is intended for healthcare professionals practicing acute care medicine, including:
- Physicians
- Residents
- Fellows
- Nurse Practitioners
- Physician Assistants
Registration is limited to 12 participants.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations more than 6 weeks from the course date will receive a FULL refund, minus a $150 administration fee. Cancellations within 4-6 weeks of the course will receive a 50% refund, minus a $150 administration fee. No refunds for cancellations received withing 4 weeks of the course date. If the registrant/resident (or program) is able to find a replacement to take the course in the place of the registrant who cancelled, the registration fee can be transferred to the new participant.
The responsibility to find a replacement lies solely with the resident or program. The Department of Emergency Medicine reserves the right to cancel any course up to the week prior to the course date. Registrants will be notified by email. A full refund will be issued for any cancelled course. The Department of Emergency Medicine is not responsible for any costs, including but not limited to, airline or hotel fees or penalties.
Costs of transaction refund will be additional.
