Description:

Everyone has heard that “data analysis is 80% loading, cleaning, reshaping and otherwise preparing your data for analysis”. In this 3-day, hands-on workshop, you will learn more advance techniques that will make your data wrangling easier and more effective. Picking up where our Using R for Absolute Beginners ended, we will focus on effective techniques for preparing your data to be easy to analyse. Specific topics include wrangling data with missing values, calculating derived fields in your data, joining multiple pieces of data together.

Previous introductory experience with R is required for this workshop. To see our upcoming R for Absolute Beginners workshop, click here.

In-person sessions will be held from 9am to 12pm (CT) on Tuesday, May 23rd; Wednesday, May 24th and Friday, May 26th.

Please note, these workshops are in-person and will not be available virtually.

Objectives:

  • Practice loading, cleaning and reshaping data originally collected and stored in .CSV and Excel files.
  • Learn the basic principles of “tidy data” and how following these principles will make your data analysis work much easier.
  • Write scripts for a basic data analysis project from beginning to end – load, clean, prep, summarize, plot, and analyze.
