Course Overview:
Are you an acute care practitioner looking to enhance your diagnostic skills? This one- day, intensive Intermediate Echo Course is designed specifically for you! Expand your knowledge and practical skills in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to elevate your integration of echocardiography into your acute care practice. This course will cover the fundamental principles and key applications of focused echo, empowering you to make rapid, informed decisions at the bedside.
Who should attend?
This course is ideal for any healthcare professional practicing acute care/intensive care or emergency medicine, including physicians, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Participants should have a basic understanding and skillset in the cardinal cardiac views with some experience with basic echo integration in their clinical practice.
What you’ll gain:
- Review of cardinal views.
- Skills in performing an LV assessment, including gross eyeball assessment, and the measurement of EPSS, MAPSE and fractional shortening.
- Skills in performing an RV assessment, including RV size, RV wall thickness, intraventricular septum assessment, TAPSE measurement.
- Skills in gross valvular assessment using color doppler to assess for regurgitation.
- Increased confidence integrating Cardiac POCUS into patient care.
Cost & Registration:

Cancellation Policy:
In accordance with CPD Medicine policy:
- More than 21 days’ notice: A refund will be issued, minus a 20% administrative fee (up to a maximum of $200).
- Less than 21 days’ notice: No refund will be provided.Special refund requests may be submitted to the event coordinator for consideration by the Scientific Planning Committee Chair, CPD Director or the Managing Director.
The DEM reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrolment or other circumstances that would make the event non-viable. If the DEM cancels a course, registrants will be offered a full refund or transfer registration to an alternative course.
