This is a 1.5-day course with mandatory attendance on both days and completion of a pre-test.

ATLS is a vital educational program created by the American College of Surgeons, designed to equip medical professionals with essential skills for managing trauma patients. This program offers a systematic approach to trauma care, emphasizing early assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, and definitive treatment.

A systematic and consistent approach is essential for the effective assessment and resuscitation of a traumatized patient. ATLS® uses the “ABCDE” approach to define an orderly progression of evaluation and intervention.

Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate concepts and principles of primary and secondary assessment.
  • Establish management priorities, treating the greatest threat to life first.
  • Initiate resuscitative measures needed for the emergent care of life-threatening and potentially life-threatening injuries.
  • Demonstrate the practical skills used in the initial assessment and management of patients with multiple injuries.

The course consists of the following:

  • Pre-course Test – completed online prior to the course.
  • Interactive Discussions of Core Content.
  • Practical Skill Stations.
  • Triage Scenarios.
  • Initial Assessment and Management Skill Stations (simulated patients).
  • Post-course Test

Successful completion of the course requires full attendance, passing grades in the skill stations and IA station and a post course test mark of 75% or higher. A verification card indicating successful completion of the course will be issued.

The card verifying successful completion of the ATLS® course is valid for 4 years from the date of issue. Registrants will need to retake the course every 4 years to maintain their ATLS® verification status.
