Fridays at the University Bannatyne Campus Program 2025 – 2026
This series consists of eight (8)sessions held online. The sessions are targeted toward urban and rural family physicians, Royal College fellows, and other primary care health providers. Fridays at the University offers high value, impactful lectures and skills workshops throughout the academic year. Note: the skills workshops are not included in the annual fee.
If you do not wish to register as an annual registrant, you may select a single session ticket for each session date that you would like to attend.
Objectives
By the end of the Fridays at the university Series, participants will be able to:
- Apply evidence-based clinical approaches to diagnose and manage cardiovascular conditions, women’s health concerns, and dermatologic diseases—including appropriate diagnostic testing and culturally sensitive care. - Integrate harm reduction and mental health care strategies into outpatient practice, including management of substance use disorders, cannabis use in adolescents, common psychiatric conditions, and mental health crises, with adaptations for diverse practice settings. - Deliver comprehensive travel and immigrant health services, from pre-travel risk assessment and vaccinations to post-travel illness management, with culturally safe, patient-centered care for all age groups and populations. - Apply principles of equity, diversity, inclusion to create accessible, bias-aware, and inclusive care environments for patients with specialized needs. (Leader, Health Advocate, Collaborator, Communicator, Professional)
- Appraise on emerging therapies and care models, including wellness interventions (e.g., cold therapy, testosterone replacement, red light therapy) and interprofessional primary care approaches, integrating current evidence with patient preferences. November 28, 2025 – Cardiology practice essentials
December 12, 2025 – Gynecology Day
January 30, 2026 – Wound Care Day
February 20, 2026 – Travel Health Day
March 13, 2026 – Dermatology Day
May 8, 2026 – Mental Health Day
June 5, 2026 – Hot Topics
All sessions will be held online only, via Livestream. Stable internet connection is required. Connection details will be emailed to registered participants ~24 hours prior to each event date. Please ensure that your email address is up to date in your CPD profile and add contactcca@umanitoba.ca to your safe sender list, if possible. Contact your organization’s helpdesk or IT department if you are not receiving email messages from us.

Physician Annual Fee: $895
Nurse/Other Health Professional Annual Fee: $375

Registration also provides access to the recording and resources post event. Recordings will be accessible in your CPD account ~ 7-14 days after the session date. All recordings will be available for viewing until August 31, 2026.
Study Credits
This event was developed by the CPD Medicine Program at the University of Manitoba and was planned to achieve scientific integrity, objectivity, and balance.
This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been approved by the CPD Medicine Program, University of Manitoba for up to 4.5 Mainpro+ credits. Six of the sessions are approved for up to 4.5 credits, and two sessions are approved for up to 6 credits..
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the CPD Medicine Program, University of Manitoba for a maximum of 4.5 hours. Six of the sessions are approved for up to 4.5 credits, and two sessions are approved for up to 6 credits.
Participants should only claim credit for the actual number of hours attended.
Cancellation Policy
In accordance with CPD Medicine policy:
- More than 21 days’ notice: A refund will be issued, minus a 20% administrative fee (up to a maximum of $200).
- Less than 21 days’ notice: No refund will be provided.
Special refund requests may be submitted to the event coordinator for consideration by the Scientific Planning Committee Chair, CPD Director or the Managing Director.
