Description:

In order to address the unique clinical characteristics of each community, the Community-Based CPD Program is offered in three locations*: Steinbach, Morden/Winkler and Thompson (also covering northern sites via MBTelehealth). A community physician for each location is appointed as program chair . These physicians identify the learning needs of their colleagues and work with the U of M CPD Medicine Department to organize these events.

The Community-Based Program is supported by an unrestricted education grant from the Office of Rural and Northern Health.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be offered digitally via Zoom.

Skills workshop – March 19, 2021:

0930 – 1130       CBT Primer    –   Dr. Elizabeth Hebert

A case-based, hands-on workshop that will enhance your ability to incorporate cognitive therapy techniques in everyday practice.

Objectives:

  • Explain the evidence that supports the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in primary care
  • List the clinical conditions for which CBT is indicated
  • Explore the CBT techniques that are useful in the primary care setting
  • Apply the CBT techniques in a standardized patient interview based on two different clinical scenarios

Objectives:

  • To review basic EKG patterns of the most common arrhythmias and 12-lead EKG abnormalities
  • To discuss the clinical correlates of each of these abnormalities as an aid in interpretation and clinical utilization.
  • To identify EKG abnormalities consistently causing difficulties with interpretation and to provide tips for correct interpretation.
  • To emphasize that consultants are available by phone, e-mail, text, or E-consults to aid in problem resolution.

Provide flexible, accessible, innovative and responsive programs with highly qualified instructors using a variety of learning formats

Registration:

Physicians: $175 per lecture session
Other health professionals: $65 per lecture session
Residents/students: $30 per lecture session

Skills workshops: $250 each

Only paid registrants can receive credits and access speakers’ presentations post-event, if available.

A full refund less a $35 administrative fee will be given if cancelled 14 days or more before each event date. No refund will be given past this date.

This post-reflective exercise will be emailed to participants the day of the activity.

Participants will receive a certificate of participant/letter or credit hours upon completion of all components, including the post-program requirements. Participants not completing all of the required program elements will only be eligible to claim non-certified Mainpro+ credits.
