Marc E. Marion B.Ph., B.A., LL.B.
Taylor McCaffrey LLP, Barrister and Solicitors
Marc has been working at Taylor McCaffrey LLP since 2003 and was admitted to the Manitoba Bar in 2004. For the past 16 years since its inception, his practice has been focused exclusively on the areas of tax planning (including estate and succession planning), tax-dispute resolution, trust law, commercial law, charity law and corporate governance.
Marc’s education includes a bachelor of philosophy degree in Italian from the University of Angelicum in Rome, Italy (B.Ph., 1997), a bachelor of arts degree in French from the University of St. Boniface (B.A., 2000), and a bachelor of laws degree in English from the University of Manitoba (LL.B., 2003). He is fluent in three languages, French, English and Italian.
Marc is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Manitoba Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He presented a paper on the topic of “associated corporations” at the 2008 Prairie Tax Conference held in Winnipeg by the Canadian Tax Foundation. For a few years, he was a sessional instructor at the Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba, in “French Legal Terminology” and “Philanthropy & Law” on the topic of charity and non-profit organization forms. He has done presentations to members of the Certified General Accountants Association of Manitoba (as it was then called), The Society of Management Accountants of Manitoba (as it was then called), and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Proud of his French heritage, Marc is currently serving as the President of the board of directors for Presse-Ouest Ltée, the publisher of La Liberté, Manitoba’s 100-year-old French newspaper, and its sister corporation, POP Communications Inc., and is the Chair of the financial advisory board for the Archdiocese of St. Boniface. Marc has served as a director and the President and Treasurer of the Association des juristes d’expression française du Manitoba (AJEFM), a director of the Fédération des associations de juristes d’expression française de la common law (FAJEF), and a member of the board of governors of the Université de Saint-Boniface.
Tyler D. Curry B.Sc., CPA CGA
Tyler is a partner with the accounting firm Chochinov Curry LLP. He specializes in providing accounting and tax services to doctors and dentists at all stages of their careers including debt management, tax-efficient remuneration, timing and set up of professional corporations and review and analysis of clinic start-ups and purchases. Tyler is a regular presenter to the University of Manitoba College of Dentistry and Medicine.
